Sodium Iodide crystals doped with Thallium (or NaI(Tl) crystals) have a very high scintillation or luminescence efficiency and a good energy resolution, NaI(Tl) scintillators have the largest light-out and an emission range well matched to photomultipliers with bialkali photocathodes at high efficiency, and combination with its easy availability of variety size and geometries and low cost, NaI(Tl) scintillators has become most widely used scintillators. NaI(Tl) crystals are highly hygroscopic materials, they must be put in a hermetical sealing housing in use.
The rectangular-shaped NaI(Tl) scintillator is a usual type of GAMMA ray detector, Its NaI(Tl) crystal is rectangular shaped and encapsulated in aluminum or steel cases with an optical window for Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) coupling. The Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) could be integrated into NaI(Tl) crystals if it is required. Rectangular-shaped NaI(Tl) scintillators are widely used in scintillation measurement or scintillation spectrometer detectors for ordinary GAMMA rays. Shanghai North Optics offers stocked standard rectangular NaI(Tl) scintillation crystals and detectors with fast delivery, and we also offer customized NaI(Tl) crystals upon customers’ request.
