    Diffusion Bonding Crystals are composite laser crystals consisting of two, three, or more parts crystals with different doping characteristics, where the constituent parts are combined through a technique called diffusion bonding, that is, the diffusion of atoms across their interface. During the bonding process, the interfaces of the crystals are polished until ultra-high flatness is obtained, and the process does not involve the usage of adhesives. There are various approaches to bonding the crystals, including composite crystals with different dopants, undoped end caps on a short laser rod, crystal plates with different doping concentrations, etc.  The composite design of the crystals has unique advantages, for example, undoped end caps on a short laser rod can increase thermal endurance and reduce the strength of the thermal lens effect. Compared with normal laser crystals, diffusion bonding laser crystals are conducive to the enhancement of power scalability, power efficiency, beam quality of lasers, and the improvement of mechanical and thermal properties. Furthermore, this diffusion bonding technique can not only upgrade the overall laser performance to a significant extent but is also beneficial to the simplification of laser modules, granting access to compact designs.
