Organic or plastic scintillators have high transparency excellent durability, and good resistance to vibration, impact, and humidity, They also have extremely high anti-radiation properties. Plastic scintillators feature low-cost and broad availabilities of large dimensions and various shapes. Plastic scintillators have a short decay time and high light output. For its excellent properties, plastic scintillators have been widely used in X-radiation and Gamma detection.
Shanghai North Optics offers the plastic scintillators SP101(Equal to EJ212), which is a kind of polystyrene plastic, that is made by thermal polymerization processing of styrene monomer, POPOP, and p-terphenyl radiation materials. SP101 is a quick scintillator with a decay time of 2.4ns, it has a good light output which is 20%-30% of NaI(Tl), and a peak emission wavelength of 423nm.
North Optics offers custom plastic SP101 scintillators in various shapes, such as plates, disks, blocks, rods, cylinders, cubes, and rings, and with the optional reflector materials and packing design. North Optics also offers the plastic scintillation detection assemblies of integration of SP101 with a light guide, Photo-multiplier Tube (PMT), and Silicon Photo Diodes (Si PD), the electronic modules could be installed if requested.
