Cerium-doped Lanthanum Chloride or LaCl3(Ce) Scintillator Crystals belong to hexagonal crystalline systems. The light output of LaCl3(Ce) crystals is similar to the NaI(Tl) scintillators. Still, their decay time is 28ns, which is only 1/10 of NaI(TI) scintillators, and the energy resolution of LaCl3(Ce) is 1/2~2/3 of NaI(Tl) crystals, and it also has good mechanical properties. In addition, LaCl3:Ce crystals have excellent temperature performance and a good consistency of energy resolution within a wide temperature range.
Shanghai North Optics offers custom LaCl3(Ce) scintillator crystals on custom requirements, with a maximum dimension of Dia 75 mm x 75 mm. The LaCl3(Ce) crystals would often be encapsulated in the aluminum housing with one or two optical windows. Photomultiplier tubes (PMT) and electronic modules could be integrated with the scintillation detector.
Applications:
High energy physics
Nuclear radiation detection
Petroleum well-logging
